Minders Update History

Minders is improving with every version! If you’ve missed what’s been going on in the app, take a look at the full history below.

2025/05/15 - Version 1.5.0

This is the biggest update in the history of the app! There are so many improvements and new features in this one. See the blog post for even more details.

Performance:

• Much faster app launch
• Sync responsiveness has been improved; make a change on one device and it should show up more quickly on other devices
• Link preview images are now stored in the app’s local cache instead of iCloud, reducing iCloud storage needs and making iCloud sync faster

UI Improvements:

• Improved Feed UI
  • Posts are now organized by day
  • Post replies are now indented and the post to which they are replying is displayed
• Faster search
• Improved the hashtag UI. Hashtags are now shown beneath each post, making it easier to interact with them.
• Link previews are simplified
• Links in your posts are resolved to their link title instead of just showing the link URL
• Removed threaded tab as it wasn’t that useful
• “Just Now” section for new posts

New Features:

• Added a new Table of Contents to make it easier to view your post history by month and year
• You can now search on post date using YYYY/MM/DD format, like 2024/12/05. You can search by partial date, such as by year only or year and month.
• You can now link to other posts. Tap the “…” button and Copy Link to get a link to a post and use it in another post to create a link.
• You can tap on the header for a day of posts to view all posts for that day
• New Shuffled tab randomly shuffles all of your posts, making it fun to browse your history
• You can now hide posts from the main feed by adding #nofeed to the post. Such posts can still be found via the hashtags list or by the Search tab on iOS

Bug fixes:

• Fixed bugs where images would sometimes never load in the main feed
• Links in bulleted lists no longer spill over into the next line
• Fixed bug on Mac where sometimes saving an edited post would fail if presented from a sub-feed view which was later dismissed.

• Improved sync engine. This means faster load times and no more app freezes during sync
• Your current time zone is now recorded with the post, ensuring that the post time is displayed correctly wherever you are using the app

2024/06/10 - Version 1.2.3

• Fixed bugs that caused opening stream to fail when it was in the middle of downloading.
• Display better status information regarding streams that are still downloading, and disallow opening.
• Fixed sync bugs when two a Mac and iOS device were both editing the same stream at the same time.

macOS only

• Multiple editor windows can now be created, avoiding accidentally overwriting a current post editor that was already open.

2024/03/14 - Version 1.2.1

• New feature: Your posts can now be formatted using Markdown.
• New feature: Pinning. You can pin important posts to the top of your feed.
• Miscellaneous UI tweaks. For instance, posts now display a shorter date in the feed. However, if you view a post in Thread View, you can see the full date information (day of week and time).

2024/02/09 - Version 1.2.0

• Minders can now be run on macOS Monterey!
• Share posts from the More menu
• Copy Text in a post from the More menu
• Share text, images, and links to Minders from other apps using the Share feature in those apps
• The stream list should now load much more quickly than before

2024/01/05 - Version 1.1.2

• New feature: you can edit a post’s date. You can use this to create entries in the past.
• When you start writing a new post, the default timestamp used for the post will be when you start editing, instead of the one when you save the post.
• Improved the UI for scheduled posts. The options are simplified to just Post Now or in 7 days, but you can pick a specific date as well.
• Mac: The date for a post is now displayed in the post editor.
• Mac: Fixed bug where on macOS Sonoma, longer posts in the feed would display text beyond the post frame.
• iOS: Fix layout bug where space was given at the bottom of the editor even when there were no attachments.

Tons of improvements in this update:

• A new and improved feed appearance
• Added new Threads tab – you can see posts that have replies to them
• Improved threading – you can now see total number replies on a “thread post”
• Links and hashtags are now clickable
• Improved image preview (now using Quick Look) when browsing post attachments
• Clicking on attachments in the post editor will now present a preview window
